BarrowFull are working with Indian artists to creatively explore Barrow’s historic links to Kolkata and the Jute trade. After securing funding from the British Council, this artist-sharing scheme is seeing a cross-continental partnership grow between the two countries.
In June 2022, a Kolkatan group of artists arrived in the town and worked with local artists and partners to provide workshops with local schoolchildren as well as thousands of other local people across Barrow.
They performed alongside local rappers and BarrowFull in-house artists JD + Swerve before leading workshops at Cumbria Unity Festival and performing at Coast Roads Festival.
