St Matthew's Community Halls is one of Barrows lesser known historic buildings tucked away on the edge or Ormsgil close to the cemetery. The smaller Hall being built around 1883 with the larger Hall being built in 1925/6. The Halls are now run by a charity. who open the halls for the local community. member of the community use the halls for Line Dancing, Ballroom & Latin Dancing, exercise classes, Karate, Kung-Fu, Scouts, Beavers, & Cubs, Hindpool tigers, Yoga, Carers & Toddlers (Cats), Knatterers & Knitters, Arts & Crafts workshops, Furness Creatives, Tai-Chi, and Indoor bowling. as well as parties and private functions.
